Interview-day sheet

One page to print and put on top of your binder. Everything on it comes from Stage 5 and the interview checklist, where the reasons are explained.

Where

South Pavilion, off Ponton Road: not the main Nine Elms Lane entrance.
US Embassy, 33 Nine Elms Lane, London SW11 7US.
Stations: Vauxhall or Nine Elms.
Arrive 30 to 45 minutes early. No laptops or large bags.

At the entrance, go to the front and say: “I am here for an immigrant visa interview.” If staff send you to the queue, join it straight away.

The night before

  • Public charge statement uploaded to CEAC and emailed, at least five working days ago
  • Every financial document is in CEAC, not only in my bag
  • Passport valid 6 months beyond my intended entry date
  • Medical is less than 6 months old, and I know I must enter the US within 6 months of it: by  
  • My answers match my DS-260; I have rehearsed them aloud
  • I know the sponsor's figures in US dollars, before and after tax

Pack: had a document check

  • Passport
  • Sealed document packet, unopened
  • Courier registration confirmation (AIS)
  • Originals of everything else, and a paper copy of what is in CEAC
  • Printed public charge statement
  • Printed proof of every asset named in it

Pack: no document check

  • Passport and one passport photo
  • Birth certificate (UK: showing a parent's name)
  • Divorce decree or death certificate for every previous marriage, yours and your spouse's
  • Marriage certificate
  • Evidence of assets and liabilities, the affidavit of support, any US job offer
  • ACRO certificate (everyone 16+), plus any foreign police certificates
  • Deed poll, adoption or military records, if applicable
  • Certified translations of anything not in English
  • Courier confirmation page from AIS

On the day
