Interview date checker
Enter the dates you have. The checker works out when your public charge statement is due, the last day you can enter the US, and whether anything expires first. Only the interview date is needed; add the rest for a fuller check.

How the 6-month medical window works
Medical results are valid for 6 months from the date of the exam. The immigrant visa is issued to match, so you must enter the US within that same 6-month period. The clock starts at the medical, not the interview.
- A rescheduled interview uses up part of the window. If the new date is close to the end of it, there may not be time to get the passport back and travel.
- If the interview falls after the 6 months, the medical has expired and you will need a new one.
- The medical should be at least 10 working days before the interview, so results reach the embassy.

What each check is based on
| Check | Rule used |
|---|---|
| Statement deadline | Five working days before the interview, skipping weekends, US federal holidays and bank holidays in England (the embassy closes on both). Why five days. |
| Medical and entry | Valid 6 months from the exam; entry to the US must be within the same 6 months. |
| Passport | London's instruction: valid at least 6 months beyond your intended date of entry. Stage 5. |
| ACRO | Treated as valid for 12 months for embassy purposes. |
| Tax year | US returns for a year are due by 15 April of the following year. After that date, a newer transcript may exist. |
| I-864 edition | USCIS accepts only the 08/24/26 edition from 1 October 2026. |
| 221(g) deadline | INA §203(g): one year from the date on the letter. Details. |
A guide, not a ruling
